How to Play Flickle

Flickle offers three unique daily challenges for cinephiles and TV lovers. Learn the rules and mechanics of each game mode below to improve your win rate and build your streak.

🎬

Flickle Classic

Visual Frame Mode

In Flickle Classic, your objective is to identify a daily mystery movie or TV show using visual frames. The game tests your cinematography knowledge and visual memory.

The Rules

  • You start with a single frame from the mystery title.
  • You have exactly 6 attempts to guess the correct title.
  • If you guess incorrectly or use the "Skip" option, a new frame is revealed, giving you more visual context.

Hints & Strategies

To assist you with difficult puzzles, the game provides automatic textual hints as you progress through your attempts:

  • Release Year: Automatically revealed after your 3rd incorrect guess or skip.
  • Genre: Automatically revealed after your 4th frame.

Flickle Cast

Actor Recognition Mode

Flickle Cast challenges your knowledge of ensembles and cast lists. Can you guess the title without seeing a single frame, relying entirely on the actors involved?

How it Works

  • The game begins by displaying a single actor's photo along with the name of the character they played in the mystery title.
  • You have 5 reveals (attempts) to guess the correct movie or TV show.
  • An incorrect guess or skipping will reveal the next cast member. The more actors you see, the easier it becomes.

Score Optimization: Guessing the movie early on (e.g., on the 1st or 2nd actor) is highly prestigious. True film buffs can recognize a movie from an obscure supporting actor!

Flickle Timeline

Chronological Sorting Mode

Flickle Timeline is a test of film history. Each day features a selection of movies or shows from a specific director, actor, or franchise.

The Challenge

  • You are presented with 5 unranked titles. Your task is to drag and drop them into their exact chronological release order (from oldest to newest).
  • After arranging them, click "Check Order".
  • You have exactly 3 attempts to get the entire timeline perfectly sorted.

Locking Mechanism

When you check your order, any title that is placed in the correct chronological position will turn green and lock into place. This narrows down the possibilities for your remaining attempts, allowing you to focus only on the incorrectly placed titles.
