My analysis suggests that the film succeeds because it treats the legal system as a flawed storyteller rather than a source of objective facts.

The cinematography by Simon Beaufils utilizes a sharp and clinical natural lighting to strip away any cinematic comfort from the snowy French Alps. High contrast whites dominate the exterior frames to create a sense of blinding exposure for the family. This visual aesthetics choice rejects the dark shadows of the traditional noir in favor of a bright and unforgiving clarity. I observed that the camera movement frequently switches to a restless handheld style during the domestic flashbacks to simulate the instability of memory.

The production design constructs the chalet as a vertical battlefield defined by precarious heights and fatal drops. Set decoration relies heavily on the physical distance between the attic and the ground to visualize the emotional canyon between the husband and wife. This visual storytelling technique transforms a simple renovation project into a haunting physical manifestation of a family's collapse. I found that the blocking within the courtroom consistently positions the protagonist Sandra in a lower plane to emphasize her constant defensive posture against the state.

A critical review of the sound design reveals a brilliant use of diegetic music to establish psychological dominance. Foley work amplifies the rhythmic thud of a falling body and the aggressive loops of a steel drum cover to generate a relentless sense of auditory dread.
